The PHENIX study. Initial results were first presented at the ASCO Annual Meeting in June and the full text was published in The New England Journal of Medicine (N Engl J Med. 2025 Oct 16;393(15):1463-1474). For early-stage cervical cancer patients meeting specific criteria, sentinel lymph node biopsy alone is non-inferior to pelvic lymphadenectomy (combined with radical hysterectomy) in terms of survival outcomes, but with fewer surgical complications. This has the potential to rewrite global cervical cancer guidelines.
