According to Table 3, the most common treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) in the DVDMS-PDT group were anemia (42 cases, 34.15%), chest pain (39 cases, 31.71%), weight loss (37 cases, 30.08%), nausea (34 cases, 27.64%), and decreased lymphocyte count (34 cases, 27.64%). In the TPC group, the most common TEAEs were decreased white blood cell count (27 cases, 45.76%), anemia (20 cases, 33.90%), decreased neutrophil count (16 cases, 27.12%), nausea (15 cases, 25.42%), and diarrhea (12 cases, 20.34%).
According to Supplemental Table 2, the results of treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) and PDT-related TRAEs are described as follows:
In the DVDMS-PDT group, 12 cases (9.76%) of TEAEs led to death, of which 6 were related to photodynamic therapy (PDT), including hematemesis (1 case), esophageal bleeding (1 case), esophageal mediastinal fistula (1 case), and unexplained death (2 cases), and pulmonary inflammation (1 case). In the TPC group, 9 cases (15.25%) of TEAEs led to death, of which 5 were treatment-related, including bone marrow suppression (2 cases), unexplained death (2 cases), and chest discomfort (1 case).
According to Table 4, the description of phototoxicity is provided.
